Modules & Content
How to organize your course into modules and add content — video, slides, documents, and text.
What is a module?
A module is a lesson or chapter within a course. Courses are made up of multiple modules, each covering one topic or learning objective. Members work through modules in order, unlocking the next one as they complete the previous one.
Each module contains:
- A title and description
- Learning content (video, slides, text, or documents)
- Optional resources to download
- Questions or assessments (covered in the Questions tab)
Adding a new module
Open the Modules & Content tab in the course editor. Click + Add Module to create a new module. A new module appears at the bottom of your list with a default title (e.g., "Module 1"). Click the title to rename it.
Reordering modules
Modules appear in the order members see them. Drag modules up or down in the list to change their order. Members unlock modules in this order, so put foundational topics first.
Module settings
Click any module to open its settings panel:
- Title: The module name (e.g., "Introduction to Python")
- Description: A brief overview of what members will learn
- Duration: Estimated time to complete the module (e.g., "15 minutes")
- Unlock requirements: Whether this module unlocks automatically or only after completing the previous one
Adding video content
Videos are the most common course content. To add a video:
- 1Click + Add Video in the module
- 2Choose whether to upload a video file or paste a YouTube/Vimeo URL
- 3If uploading, select a file from your computer. Supported formats: MP4, MOV, AVI, WebM
- 4Give the video a title (e.g., "Welcome to the course")
- 5Click Upload and wait for processing (large videos may take a few minutes)
- 6Once done, the video is ready to play
Adding slides or presentations
Upload slides in PDF or PowerPoint format:
- 1Click + Add Slides in the module
- 2Select a PDF or .pptx file from your computer
- 3Give the slides a title
- 4Click Upload
- 5The slides display as interactive pages members can flip through
Members can download your slides to their computer for offline reference.
Adding text and rich content
For brief explanations, use the rich text editor:
- 1Click + Add Text in the module
- 2Type or paste your content
- 3Use bold, italics, lists, links, and other formatting
- 4Optionally add images by clicking the image button
- 5Click Save
Adding downloadable resources
Attach documents, spreadsheets, or other files that members can download:
- 1Click + Add Resource in the module
- 2Select a file (PDF, DOCX, XLSX, etc.)
- 3Add a title and optional description
- 4Click Upload
- 5Members see a download link in the module
Module thumbnails and images
Each module can have a thumbnail image that appears in the module list. Upload a custom image or let My1Service generate one. Good thumbnails help members understand what each module covers at a glance.
Content ordering within a module
If a module has multiple items (video, slides, text, questions), members see them in the order you arrange them. Drag items up or down to reorder. A typical flow might be:
- 1. Video lesson (3 minutes)
- 2. Slides with deeper explanation
- 3. Text summary
- 4. Downloadable practice worksheet
- 5. Quiz questions to test understanding
Deleting a module
Hover over a module in the list and click the delete button (trash icon). Confirm the deletion. All content in that module is removed. This action can't be undone, so be careful.
Module prerequisites
By default, members must complete one module before the next unlocks. You can change this in the module settings if you want all modules accessible from the start.
Content file size limits
There are no hard limits on total course size, but individual files have these limits:
- Video: up to 2 GB
- Slides/documents: up to 100 MB
- Images: up to 20 MB
Updating module content
You can edit or replace content anytime. Click on a module, then click on a content item to edit it. If members are already taking the course, they'll see the updated content on their next visit to that module.
