Accepting an Invite

Understanding role invites and course invites, and what each link does when you receive one.

Two types of invites

There are two different invitations in My1Service, sent in different scenarios and delivered in different ways.

  • Role invites: An admin or instructor is adding you to the organization with a specific role (member, instructor, or admin). Sent via email.
  • Course invites: An instructor is adding you to a specific course they run. These appear in the app itself — you don’t need to go anywhere special to accept them.

Role invites (from email)

A role invite grants you access to the organization itself, with a specific role and permissions.

  1. 1Check your email for an invite from the organization’s domain (e.g., “from Orbit TVET College”).
  2. 2Click the link in the email. You’re taken to an activation page within that organization.
  3. 3If this is your first time with us, set your password and read the organization’s name and logo.
  4. 4Click Accept invite.
  5. 5You’re now a member of the organization and land in the dashboard with your new role.
Activating in one step
Role invites combine account creation and activation. You don’t need to sign up separately — the invite link handles it all.

What role invites grant you

Your role determines what you can see and do:

  • Member (learner): Browse and join courses, work through content, take assessments, view your certificates.
  • Instructor: Everything a member can do, plus author and manage courses, grade written answers, and invite other team members.
  • Admin: Everything an instructor can do, plus manage all organization members and their roles, see reporting, and configure organization settings.

See Roles & Access for the complete breakdown.

Course invites (in the app)

Sometimes an instructor wants to invite you to a specific course before or after you've joined the organization.

If you’re already a member of the organization, you'll see the invite in a notification at the top of the app. Click it to view the course and join it.

If you’re not yet a member, you’ll receive an email with a link. Clicking it takes you to an acceptance page where you can preview the course and accept the invite. If the course is part of a plan your organization has access to, you’ll join automatically.

Declining an invite

Role invites can’t be declined from the invite link itself — once you accept, you’re in. If you no longer want access, contact your admin and ask them to deactivate your account. See People & Roles.

Course invites can be ignored. If an instructor sends you an invite to a course, you don’t have to join it. The invitation sits there until you either accept it or the instructor removes it.

Multiple invites

One email address can have accounts in multiple organizations. Each organization has its own login address and its own set of courses and members. You sign in to each one separately.

Pending and expired invites

If an admin sends you a role invite and you haven't activated it yet, the invite is “pending.” The admin can see the status in People & Roles and can revoke it if needed.

Invite links are valid for 30 days. If the link expires, the admin can send a new one.

Never share an invite link
Invite links grant access to the organization. If you receive one, keep it private. Don't forward it to someone else — the admin should send them their own unique link.
